Exploring the Moons Connections to Women’s Menstrual Cycles, Star Signs, Work, Career and Relationships

The moon has captivated us since the dawn of time. Its phases, cycles and movements have been used to understand the ebb and flow of our lives and the universe surrounding us.

To get to know the moon and unlock and harness its power, let’s look into its connection to women’s menstrual cycles, star signs, work, career and relationships.

Many women have noted that their menstrual cycle follows the lunar cycle; the time of the new moon and the full moon is often associated with the onset of menstruation. This connection is believed to be due to the rhythmic nature of the moon’s energy, which can affect our hormones, emotions and physical health.

Known as the “ruler of the night, ” the moon influences our lives and personalities in accordance with the astrological sign it is in, furthering our understanding of its mysterious power.

The lunar cycle can give us an insight into the best time to start a new project or take on a new job. This can be especially beneficial for those seeking a career change or starting a new venture.

While studying the moon’s cycles, we can better understand our relationships and how to navigate them best. The waxing and waning of the moon can also help us determine the best time to work on our relationships and when to take a step back.

Spiritual Practices to Strengthen your Intensions During Lunar Cycles

Welcome new beginnings, transformation and growth with the perfect Smudge Stick to cleanse the energies in your home.

In episode 14 of the Women Who Rebrand podcast, Dee listed the key ingredients for the perfect Smudge Stick to create a fresh start: dried Rosemary, which promotes mental acuity and purification. Dried Thyme is great for transitions, starting a new phase of life, and leaving the past behind. Dried Rose Petals are usually burned in love, luck, grief, and healing rituals.

To get the most out of smudging your home, ensure it is clean and organised first. Then, walk through each room, paying attention to corners, with your smudge stick and let the fresh energy fill your home!

Elements
4 – 5 Rose Petals
Dried Rosemary Sprig
Dried Thyme
Scissors
Twine (or oil burner wick)

Instructions
To perform a smudging ritual, begin by trimming your herbs to size and securing a long piece of twine around the base of the bundle. Wrap tightly and tie the cord securely, trimming any excess herbs sticking out.

Allow your elements to dry out completely– place in a warm room or airing cupboard.

Light the dried Smudging Stick and hold a non-flammable container to catch any ash. Starting at the Eastern point of the room, move clockwise, wafting the smoke as you go. Feel free to state your intention while moving around. Dee recommends saying, “I welcome a fresh start and new beginnings. I am grateful for this transitional phase and rebrand!

Once you have finished, extinguish the smoke under running water and set it aside to dry.

You can reuse the same Smudging Stick until nothing is left to burn.

Honouring the Lunar Cycle Through Spiritual Practices

1. Set goals each month at the New Moon: Write down your intentions and meditate on them for the month.

2. Perform a lunar ritual: Create a sacred space in your home and light candles or incense to honour the lunar cycle.

3. Connect with nature: Spend time outdoors in nature and observe the changing moon phases.

4. Spend time in reflection: Spend time in stillness and silence to allow your intuition and internal guidance to emerge.

5. Meditate and practice mindful breathing: Connect with your inner self, and align with the moon’s cycles.

6. Practice gratitude: Spend time each day expressing gratitude and appreciation for the gifts in your life.

7. Connect with the Divine: Connect with the Divine and ask for guidance and support for your intentions.

8. Work with crystals: Work with crystals associated with the moon to amplify your intentions and spiritual practices.

9. Participate in full moon rituals: Connect with other like-minded individuals to create full moon rituals and ceremonies to honour the lunar cycle.

10. Honour the dark moon: Spend time in stillness and contemplation during the dark moon to allow for introspection and a deeper connection with your inner self.

The best time to perform intentional spiritual practices according to lunar cycles is during the moon’s new moon, full moon, and waning and waxing phases.

The new moon is an excellent time for starting new projects, setting intentions, and making plans. The full moon is a time of release and letting go. The waning phase is a time of endings, while the waxing phase is a time of beginnings.

The moon has long been associated with goddesses and the feminine, reminding us of the power of intuition and the non-rational parts of our being.” – Clarissa Pinkola Estés
