Narcissistic Personality Disorder

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) lists nine criteria for NPD. Still, it specifies that someone only needs to meet five to clinically qualify as a narcissist.

  • Grandiose sense of self-importance preoccupation with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love.
  • The belief they’re special and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people or institutions need for excessive admiration.
  • Sense of entitlement.
  • Interpersonally exploitative behaviour.
  • Lack of empathy.
  • Envy of others or a belief that others are envious of them.
  • Demonstration of arrogant and haughty behaviours or attitudes.

Psychotherapy

Is a longer-term exploration of your personal challenges and difficulties. Psychotherapy provides a powerful tool for positive long-term change. You can learn about the root cause of your issues and create solid and dependable foundations upon which to heal and move on.

Group Work

Under Keeley’s direction, group work can support, offer alternatives, and comfort participants to resolve their difficulties. They’s learn more valuable behaviours, such as placing boundaries and understanding others. A group can also help someone develop new ways of relating to people. Groups are usually 4-8 people with one or more trained group therapists. During the group meeting, members decide what they want to talk about and are encouraged to give feedback to each other. Group therapy is based on a psycho-social education model. It incorporates a range of therapeutic approaches, with all learning being experiential.

EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for treating trauma. EMDR is a set of standardised protocols that incorporates elements from different treatment approaches. To date, EMDR therapy has helped millions of people of all ages to relieve many types of psychological stress.

Counselling

Sometimes, the difficulties that we face in life keep us stuck. Whatever we try, nothing seems to make a real difference. Our family or friends may be well-meaning, but their advice may not help. It may even occasionally leave us feeling worse! Many people appreciate the opportunity to talk to an experienced, trained counsellor at times like this.

Counselling services provide an objective, confidential space where you can discover what it is that is causing you to feel stuck. We will then assist you in identifying the strategies and solutions that will empower you to turn your life around and regain happiness and control.
