Stress Management and Self-Care Practices

Self-Care Doesn’t Necessarily Mean a Spa Day!

The modern world is stressful, with extended hours and an ever-increasing list of responsibilities. From financial pressures to family and work obligations, finding time to care for yourself can be difficult. But if you don’t make time for yourself, it can take a toll on your mental and physical health, leading to burnout and feeling overwhelmed. That’s why it’s so important to make time for authentic self-care.

Doing activities that soothe and nourish your soul and bring you joy can make you feel good. It could be anything from walking in nature, playing your favourite sport, or curling up with a good book. It can be anything that helps you relax.

Self-care isn’t just limited to ensuring your physical self is well taken care of; it’s ensuring your finances are healthy, your social circles are enriching, and you’ve set boundaries to avoid over-committing yourself.

Assess your social media use and curate your feed to ensure you’re not immersing yourself in negativity. You may want to change the world and know what’s happening, but you don’t have to handle that heavy load of constant news. For instance, have you turned off that auto-play function on Twitter? You can’t control what others share, but you can control what information you consume.

Living Offline

The importance of having a healthy social network of friends should not be underestimated!

Talking to family members or co-workers can be difficult when we feel overwhelmed or anxious. Friends can provide a safe space to express our feelings and receive advice. They can also help us relax and take a break from the daily grind.

Having an active social life can also help boost our sense of well-being. When we spend time with friends, we can talk and laugh, which can help us feel more relaxed and happy. Friends can also help us to stay motivated and active. They can motivate us to stay healthy by encouraging us to exercise, eat healthily and practice self-care.

By taking time, you can reduce stress and become better equipped to handle the demands of life. You don’t need to make more time, just include small changes to care for yourself and nurture your body, mind and spirit– protect your energy!

Your well-being is definitely at the bottom of your thoughts, right?! ”Who even has time for that…”, you wonder.” – Candice Denise
Candice has always been a visionary, which has fueled her 10+ year career in the event planning industry. Driven by her personal interest, passion and advocacy for wellness and self-care, she has developed the skills to do more with her attention to detail, logistical skills, project management, and creativity.

Her self-care journey, knowledge, personal revelations and struggles as an entrepreneur, and desire to empower other women led her to create CD Creative Loft. Here she works with high-achieving female leaders, founders, entrepreneurs, and organisations, teaching them how to prioritise themselves daily, remove self-care from their to-do lists, work past the “guilt and selfish” stigmas often associated with self-care, and teach them how to easily infuse simple self-care practices and routines into their busy day-to-day schedules to support their overall success and maintain a lifestyle centred around putting their well-being first.
